Future Filming

As we have edited the office scene are next half of the opening will be filming Samantha rushing in and out of costa. This is because she has forgotten her bosses coffee. Then she runs past the camera with her coffee. I think it would be a good idea to stand high up and film her from a high angle shot as this will show things such as people, houses and shops which look more realistic. The film titles should begin here when she stops running.

We also need to film cut aways for the beginning of the opening these should include a handbag, shoes and coat and a shot from bottom to the top of her showing her outfit.

BBC Trip

On the 20th of November the year 12 and 13 went on a media trip to the BBC studios in London. We were taken on a tour through the studios. It also was helpful going there by train as I could film the route of my protagonist in our film opening. The film shots included the moving train, a ticket going through a barrier and a shot of a train passing the one we were on. Although I need to make it as clear as possible that Samantha is going on the train to her work experience office as she was not actually there with us on the trip.

Devil wears Prada storyboard

I wanted to use a variety of shots including long shots, mid shots and over the shoulder shots. They used twenty five shots in under two minutes.

Looking back at the film opening so far

This clip shows part of the film opening however it still needs to be edited further and the song may be changed. We have made this opening really quickly and it is only a draft but some things still need to change and it needs to run for two minutes which means I need another minute to add. A problem was that we did not visit the location before so it was difficult to arrange where we were going to film. As soon as we got to the flat we decided that we would use the extra room as the office and shut the blinds so we couldn't see the van in the car park outside.

When we were filming at the flat we only had to be two hours to film altogether. I found this quite difficult because we also forgot our storyboards and had to remember the shots we needed to include from memory. As a group we included a lot of good shots and I filmed a close up and an overhead-shot  where the actor molly was opening a confidential letter. I also took part as an extra in the background when I pushed the clothes rail and walked out of the room. There was also another extra in the beginning of the film. The extras are definetly needed in the film because they make the film more realistic.

The planning of the storyline

On Sunday, I will be filming part of the film. The storyline will be following the storyboard.

Firstly I will film Scarlett walking through the door who is acting as a protagonist and film her entering the room. Then I will use a tracking shot that will overtake her and swivel round. The tracking shot will show her walking with her on the phone. The extras will be walking the other way of Scarlett one of them will be pushing a clothes rail and one will be doing something else this could be measuring a piece of clothing or holding up a poster trying to attatch it to the wall. The next part Scarlett will take off her coat and pass it to one of the extras while she is still walking and because this is unexpected there could be a close up or mid shot here of one of the extras with a shocked expression.

After this there will be cut aways of vogue magazines and other parts of the office. When Scarlett sits down on the sofa she will flip open the laptop and pretend it's hers she will then find a confidential envelope sticking out under the other papers on the table. Then she will take the letter out and there will be an over the shoulder shot showing her open it.On this envelpe it will be about debt and this will give a second storyline.

The editor will walk in the room and bark orders at Scarlett one of them could be 'Where is my skinny latte'? Scarlett will then put the envelope back very subtly.

She will then get up and look around and say 'Sorry I forgot'. Then there could either be a mid shot or close up of the editor and I think it would be a good idea if she raised an eyebrow as this will express how cross she is with her. Then the editor will look at her watch and say 'You're late it's one thirty', or something similar to this. At this point Scarlett will get up, grab her bags and other belongings and rush out of the office.

The actor unfortunatly couldn't make it so we had a last minute think of who we could use as the protagonist.

Chick flick target audience

We spoke
to a focus group to find this information and I found it very useful because it helped me to understand more about the teenage audience we were looking at. We now know that we need to include some of this in our film opening to engage our audience such as the most up to date mobile phone.
